Seeing the light

While waiting for a midnight movie I took it upon myself to waste some time snap a few photos. The subject was tucked away in the garage and given that it was close to 10 p.m., I thought it'd be best to play with off camera flash.

two flashlights, one flash and 30 minutes later and here's what the camera caught.

One more try

A little fine art

Awhile back ago I was invited to the senior art show of a friend at the Moon Gallery. I'm usually not one for fine art but her and her husband have been big supporters of me so why not return the favor. Besides, I was tempted with the promise of free juice and cookies (I'm fairly easy to please) and those are just way too hard to turn down. What I ended up seeing was some truly amazing and thoughtful work. I even wanted to take a piece home with me, but sadly it already had a new home to go to, so the pictures will just have to do.

Thanks Becca for allowing me to be your "personal photographer" for the evening. If anyone is interested in her work, feel free to comment the post with contact info or even e-mail me.

An afternoon at the barn

A couple of weeks ago I went out to the Gunby equine center at Berry College for my first trail ride. Frankly, I was a little reluctant as I had never really ridden a horse but my 'teachers' assured me it would be fine. The girls I rode with were especially helpful and kept their first timer jokes down to a minimum. It ended up being great fun and I hope to ride again soon.

After the ride Sarah, Rachel and Casey (my wonderful teachers) treated me to a quick demonstration of what they do best.

A growing family

I spent this past weekend with my two friends Rachel and Casey as they searched for a pet to add to the family. After visiting a few pet stores in the area, Casey finally found a beta fish by the name of Blackbeard that would make their house a home.

I was able to snap a few photos during the adventure.

A tempting offer...

The newest addition to the family! Congrats Casey!

Back to business, sort of....

Upon returning to Atlanta I was able to get out and meet up with my friend Taylor who recently returned from a study abroad semester in Italy. We went out to lunch at a restaurant called Urban Flats and talked about her time there while chowing down on some good eats.

I highly recommend the place if you can find one nearby as this place is truly awesome!

Beach and Fireworks

That past couple of days have been filled with lots of lounging with little to no productivity. Okay, actually zero productivity, but that's why that call it vacation right?

I decided that my annual July 4th trip to Daytona
would be the perfect testing ground for the latest additions to my camera bag (including the bag itself!), which included a new vertical grip and a 24-70 F2.8 L series lens.

I must say that the 2.8 did extremely well especially on the beach for the fireworks display (which was incredibly dark) and overall I'm very happy with it's performance. Oh and that vert grip is a lifesaver!

enough talk, on to the photos!
